About Katrina

Currently based in North Yorkshire, Katrina was born in Liverpool and grew up in the seaside town of Southport, where she developed a lasting connection to the coast. The changing light, expansive skies, and landscapes of Mallorca also influence her work, and she is particularly drawn to the way colour can evoke atmosphere, memory, and emotion

Inspired by Contemporary Spanish art, Colour Field painting, and Abstract Expressionism, energy and texture are central to her practice. Unconfined by a single genre, her work is characterised by expressive palette knife marks and a vibrant yet considered use of colour designed to stimulate the eye and imagination

Although she dreamed of becoming an artist as a child, Katrina initially pursued a career as an architectural technologist - a role that sharpened her eye for detail and strengthened her instinct for structure and balance. In 2020, she re-evaluated her priorities and returned to her first love: creating art

Beginning with graphite and coloured pencil, she established a reputation for finely observed, detailed work before expanding into acrylic and mixed media, embracing bolder colour and texture. In 2026, her practice began evolving into watercolour and ink - a natural progression that allows for greater fluidity, spontaneity, and expressive mark-making while still retaining the thoughtful composition and precision that underpin her work. She is increasingly drawn to the delicacy, transparency, and subtle unpredictability of these mediums

Katrina continues to accept selected architectural commissions in graphite pencil while dedicating more of her time to developing new collections that reflect this confident new chapter in her artistic journey
